Meet your counsellor
Alannah McIntee, MCP, RCC
Hello! I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in good standing with the British Columbian Association of Clinical Counsellors. I obtained my Master’s of Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, BC, and my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and minoring in Counselling and Human Development from Simon Fraser University.
Since the beginning of my career, I have dedicated my career to youth and their families. I have worked in Community Mental Health as a Youth and Family Therapist in Chilliwack, BC and as a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinical Supervisor in a rural community located in Northern BC. I have worked with youth and adults living with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use, and suicidal ideation.
However, since having my own children, I have developed a passion for perinatal mental health. After experiencing pregnancy and postpartum myself, along with connecting with many parents at parents groups, the park, and daycare, I can see that this is a population that deserves more support than what is already out there.
I also take a special interest in working with adults (18+) who are currently going through life transitions, experiencing burnout, facing life stressors, or who simply need someone to talk to. My ultimate goal is to create a space where you feel heard, accepted, and empowered.
The foundation of my practice is based in person-centered therapy which means I believe that every client that comes to my office has the power to make changes in their life. It is my job to help you find that inner strength by walking alongside you throughout your journey, offering support and guidance, and by providing education and tools needed to reach your goals. I also incorporate interventions and techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, dialetical- behavioural therapy, and mindfulness based approaches.
Together, we will find what works best for you.
